Thanks for stopping by
Offering unparalleled access to the Altozano | Animalón compound since October 2022.
Chef Javier Plascencia & family opened the doors to the property with Finca Altozano’s arrival to the region’s culinary scene in 2012…
Ten years down the line, overnight stays on the grounds are now a (long overdue) reality, and offer a new way to experience & take in the beauty of our shared home, Valle de Guadalupe.
Welcome to the San Diegan, a vintage & Baja/Southwest-inspired hideaway nestled between vineyards, restaurants, and local businesses unique to Valle de Guadalupe.
We’re so glad you’re here. Allow us to delight you in a short tale of how we, & you, got here -
We weren’t always open to the public, and we didn’t always look this put-together.
‘The San Diegan’ is a vintage Airstream trailer that found its home, had a makeover, & permanently parked here in Valle de Guadalupe. Originally started as a makeshift housing option for a late night’s stay between trips & travels for Chef JP, the “silver bullet” has found its permanent resting place here at KM 83 in the Altozano compound in Valle, with a front row seat to the magic that are Magoni’s vineyards, offering full privacy for overnight guests through a completely renovated & old school camper van + newly installed living spaces.
Whether you’re a past, present, or future guest, we can’t wait to keep offering new experiences for your Valle getaways. We’re constantly evolving and adapting to the wants & needs that we see our guests, well, want & need. This space was curated for your leisure, so please, let us do the worrying & the planning.
All we ask is you say “YES!” to that roadtrip you’ve been meaning to do.
Tune in & turn up our dedicated playlist (link below) for the open road. We’ll see you out there.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Are you dog friendly?
Yes! (Duh.) We are a dog & animal friendly establishment, so it’s only right we let you bring your extended family along too. That being said, we have an ever-changing pack of dogs living all around the property. They are well behaved and accustomed to unfamiliar dogs visiting on the daily, but we encourage not leaving them unattended or off-leash while you’re roaming around. (Well-behaved pets are OK to sleep inside the trailer).
-
Meals down at the trailer?
Lucky for you we’re sharing a compound with world renown restaurants, so if you’re not interested in dining out, we have takeout options available & can bring lunch/dinner directly to your door.
Additionally, you’re more than welcome to stock up on groceries before your arrival and utilize the outdoor kitchen space for your home-away-from-home cooked meals.

Do I need to bring anything in specific for my stay?
Just good spirits & a willingness to embrace the outdoor lifestyle of our beautiful surroundings!
We have everything at the ready for your visit, no need to bring firewood/charcoal (firepit & stove are fueled by gas), wine (selection on-site), or blankets/towels/robes (we keep extra stock just in case).
